Promotion of clean air in industry
In industry, technology is constantly advancing and in recent years has focused on clean, sustainable, health-friendly and environmentally friendly productivity. Suction and filtration systems that remove welding fumes, harmful dust and other pollutants from workplaces not only achieve the goal of sustainability, health and maintenance of product quality, but also result in significant energy savings. Modern extraction systems, for example, allow filtered, clean air to be conveyed back into the work area, significantly reducing heating and energy costs.
Advantages of an industrial vacuum system
Industrial vacuum systems generally consist of suction systems (e.g., suction arms and hoods) and filtration units (cartridge filters, bag filters, pocket filters, charcoal filters, etc.) The objective is to protect personnel health and product quality by removing harmful substances such as dust, welding fumes, gases, aerosols, wood or metal chips, and many other pollutants from the air. In systems that have been in operation for many years or whose performance is inadequate, this can lead to clogged pipes, inadequate separation, and high energy (and therefore cost) consumption.

BAFA has relaunched its "Energy and Resource Efficiency in Industry" funding program for 2024.
Module 1: Cross-cutting technologies
The following cross-cutting technologies can be applied in Module 1 as part of the extraction technology:
High-efficiency fans, frequency converters and heat recovery.
- Funding is available only for the replacement of existing functional systems and components with the same purpose and that have been in the company's inventory for at least 5 years.
- Eligible incidental costs 30% of total eligible investment costs. Flat percentage subsidy on total eligible investment costs.
- The minimum investment must be at least 2,000 euros, including incidental costs.
Module 4: Basic Subsidy
The following types of systems must be requested in the core funding program:
- Decentralized treatment of process air using filter towers or equivalent systems.
- Funding exclusively for the replacement of existing functioning systems and components that have been in the company's inventory for at least 5 years.
- Conditions identical to those for cross-cutting technologies.
- Final energy savings of at least 15 percent over existing systems are required. Flat percentage subsidy on eligible costs.
Module 4: Prize Grant
Technology-neutral financing for replacement of existing plants or investment in extension of the extraction system. Energy savings (GHG) of at least 30 percent compared to existing or reference.
Amount of funding
- Financing through de-minimis maximum 300,000
- Funding through AGVO Art. 38, maximum 20 million euros.
