Coral Welding Fume Suction And Filtration Plant13

Fume extraction system specially designed for welding operations

  • Plant type: Welding fume extraction and filtration
  • Air flow rate: 16,500 cu m/h
  • Filter type: Cartridge filter mod. Aircompact-O
  • Fan: PRH 560/2 - 30 kW

How the plant works

Coral designed and commissioned a custom welding fume abatement and extraction system at a client company.

The system consists of suction runs of appropriate diameter equipped with suction arms that, positioned near each work zone, ensure the precise and direct suction of welding fumes to their source of emission. For each station, there is also a shuttered connection to which an additional system with suction arm placed on a Mobile Tower trolley can be attached.

The suction downflows are connected to a main manifold, which conveys the fumes to an AIRCOMPACT-O horizontal cartridge filter. Air flow is fed into the filter assembly from the top, imparting a downward force such that coarser dust precipitates into the collection container. The air is then conveyed to the filter cartridges and, passing from the outside to the inside, deposits its impurities to be returned completely purified.

In order to maintain the high efficiency of the filter during the entire welding fume extraction process, a countercurrent cleaning system is active, cyclically programmed by an electronic device. A jet of compressed air, accumulated in special mini-tanks arranged for each cartridge, is suddenly injected into them, creating a violent countercurrent shaking wave capable of dislodging and precipitating the particles deposited on the outside of the cartridges.

Finally, a high-performance centrifugal electric fan works under vacuum to allow the filtered airflow to escape through a suitably sized exhaust stack.
