Dust Extraction System for the Railroad Industry
For a major project in the Swiss railway sector, Coral has developed an industrial dust extraction system based on the installation of a series of modular extraction walls Zincowall, integrated directly into the processing area.
The goal of the project was to create an effective system for capturing the dust generated during work on rail vehicles, while keeping the work area fully accessible and adapting the extraction system to the specific layout of the department.
The solution was developed by distributing numerous extraction points along both sides of the work area, thereby creating an extensive and uniform air purification system.

How the dust extraction system works
The system developed by Coral uses a series of exhaust walls Zincowall, positioned on either side of the area where the work is performed.
The Zincowall is a modular extraction wall designed for the frontal collection of dust and dry fumes; it can be connected, via appropriately sized ductwork, to a centralized extraction and filtration system. Its modular design allows the extraction points to be distributed according to the layout of the workspace and specific production requirements.
In this installation, the extraction walls have been arranged in sequence along the sides of the work area. Each unit is connected to the extraction system via its own branch line made of sturdy metal piping—also manufactured by Coral —while the vertical arrangement of the ducts allows for optimal use of the available space without interfering with normal activities carried out at floor level.
This configuration allows dust to be captured near the work area, limiting its dispersion into the environment and helping to maintain better air quality within the department.

A modular solution for the railway industry
One of the most significant aspects of the project is the integration of the ventilation system with the existing infrastructure.
In a large-scale environment such as that used for railway manufacturing, the collection of pollutants cannot be entrusted to a single extraction point. Instead, the installation of multiple walls Zincowall allows the extraction process to be extended across the entire area involved in manufacturing operations, while keeping the space needed for material handling and operator activities clear.
The modular design of the Zincowall line also allows the system to be scaled to meet the actual needs of the facility. The standard Coral models offer maximum flow rates ranging from 3,500 to 8,000 m³/h per module, while custom configurations can be designed to meet higher requirements.
The result is an integrated and efficiently designed dust extraction system in which the collection of contaminated air becomes an integral part of the department’s structure itself, demonstrating once again the ability to tailor Coral solutions to the specific needs of various industrial sectors.
