Cartridge filters for industrial air purification

Coral Cartridge Filters

Industrial cartridge filters are one of the most effective, safe and versatile technologies for air purification in work environments. Designed to capture both larger and finer pollutant particles, Coral 's cartridge systemsare distinguished by their high separation efficiency, ease of maintenance, and their adaptability to any industrial setting. With a full range of models (compact, horizontal and vertical) Coral can provide high-performance solutions for companies of all sizes.

Thanks to its operating offices in Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Piedmont, our company is able to support companies of different sizes that need professional and immediately integrable extraction and filtration equipment.

How cartridge filtration works

These items provide an efficient solution for the removal of solid particles from liquid or gaseous fluids. Their operation is based on passing the fluid through a filter element, consisting of a cartridge, which retains impurities due to its porous structure. Cartridges can be made of different materials, such as polypropylene, paper, or stainless steel, depending on the application. This system provides high filtering capacity and relatively simple maintenance, as the cartridges can be replaced once their particle-holding capacity is exhausted.

Compact cartridge filters: high performance in small spaces

Among the various solutions available at our production centers, Coral offers its compact filters. These find their main application in small indoor environments, thanks to an extremely compact engineered structure. The robust design integrates all the necessary elements for effective extraction and filtration of dry fumes and dust. These are complete, integrated filter units that can be easily positioned close to the affected area. The system consists of high-efficiency filter cartridges, dust collection bins, fan and compressed air tank for automatic backwash cleaning, which ensures continuous regeneration of filter cartridges and maintenance of high performance over time.

Main benefits highlighted:

  • Sturdy and compact structure, ideal for small- to medium-sized indoor environments.
  • "Plug & Play" system, complete, integrated and ready to use.
  • Quick and easy maintenance with easy access to the filter section.

Horizontal cartridge filters for superior efficiency

What makes this category of filters particularly functional is the horizontal arrangement of the cartridges, which allows quick and safe access to the filter area, facilitating replacement, inspection and maintenance operations. These systems adopt a downward air flow (Down Flow), which improves efficiency in separating fine dust and reduces compressed air consumption, making the entire system more economical and sustainable. Like all cartridge filters, these systems operate through a mechanical filtration process: the high filtering surface area of the cartridges retains solid particles and separates them from the incoming gaseous stream, purifying the air optimally.

Perceived benefits are divided into:

  • Frontal extraction of cartridges for quick maintenance intervention.
  • "Down Flow" flow for high performance on fine and light powders.
  • Compact and transportable structure, easily installed indoors.

Low-maintenance vertical cartridge filters

Ideal for treating low concentrations of dust and fumes, Coral 's vertical cartridge filters offer a very large filter surface area capable of rapidly trapping small and medium-sized particles. The vertical configuration enables space-saving engineering while maintaining high performance over time through efficient, low-maintenance self-cleaning systems.

Structural features:

  • Extended filter surface optimized for fine dust.
  • Self-cleaning compressed air systems for lasting performance.
  • Compact design suitable for tight spaces.

Coral filtration system technology

Coral cartridge filters use a high-efficiency dry filtration system. The filtration process begins when Dusty air enters from the connection on the hopper at the bottom and, due to the abrupt decrease in velocity, particles with larger particle size decant and end up in the collection bin. The finer or lighter particles move up the body, inside which the filter cartridges are housed; the polluted air travels through the cartridges from the outside to the inside, so that the powder is deposited externally while the air moves up the cartridges and out purified. The gradual settling of dust makes it necessary to periodically clean the cartridges: the compressed air jet enables backwashing cleaning and subjects the cartridge to a high-frequency oscillatory motion. This jet, called a "shock wave," naturally promotes the backwashing process.

Filter cleaning is done by sectors, by means of diaphragm solenoid valves, operated by a cyclic programmer that determines pause and working times. This makes it possible to keep the efficiency status of the filter at maximum levels at all times. This type of cleaning, which is very reliable, causes the filter, after an initial period of work, to reach a practically constant pressure drop value throughout its operating life. Standard filter cartridges are made of BIA USG-certified 270g/m polyester. Various filter media are available as options depending on the application: teflon-coated polyester - aluminized/antistatic - oil/water repellent, cellulose fabric, BIA USG, C or USG certified.
