Pocket filters against oil mist and fumes

These media represent an effective and versatile solution for the filtration of oil mists and other pollutants present in industrial processes, such as particles contained in dry fumes and dust . Used both in centralized systems and with trolley filters, the items presented exploit a mechanical filtration capable of adapting to specific production needs . The process allows the filtered oil to be recovered in special collection containers, reducing consumption and improving the sustainability of the system.
UTA filters available from Coral
At the production and distribution centers Coral UTA filters are available, equipped with different characteristics to ensure maximum adaptability in multiple industrial environments . For low and medium load applications, for example, soft bag filters are recommended. Identifiable thanks to the more flexible frame , they are economically advantageous and perfect for civil ventilation systems or pre-filtration systems composed of multiple stages.
For more demanding use contexts , however, our professionals recommend rigid pocket filters . Usually fixed to a resistant structure (plastic or metal), they maintain the pre-established shape for a long time , even in the presence of significant air flows. These solutions are essential for companies that seek optimal air quality or that operate in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food sectors.
How pocket filters work
In the treatment of oil mists, the proposed systems are part of a multi-stage filtration process. The air contaminated by oil initially passes through a mechanical separator, which isolates the drops by making them precipitate in a special container. The filter then comes into action, intercepting the finest particles and completing the air purification.
Specifically, the purification process is divided into the following phases:
The polluted air coming from the suction points, before being expelled into the environment, is conveyed to the “CLEAN” filter unit mainly composed of: medium efficiency pre-filter (87.5% measured according to the ASHRAE 52-76-st.d method, classification G3) pleated consisting of a galvanized sheet metal frame with a galvanized and electro-welded protection mesh which encloses the filtering septum made of polyester fibres primed with synthetic resins; high efficiency pocket filter made of glass microfibres connected to a galvanized sheet metal frame (efficiency 95% measured according to the ASHRAE 52-76-st.d method, classification F9).
As a second high-efficiency filter stage, the ASSOCLEAN unit is available, equipped with an absolute HEPA H13 filter with a filtration efficiency of 99.95% and a medium-efficiency pre-filter classified as G3 like the CLEAN unit.
If deodorization or absorption of chemicals or solvents present in the air is required, such as during painting or processing of plastic materials, the already filtered air is passed through the “CARBO” unit which is solidly connected by bolts to the “CLEAN” module. The activated carbon used in the “CARBO” unit has a specific surface area of 1,250 m2/g, a volumetric mass of 500 Kg/m3 and an iodine index of 1,150 mg/g and is contained in cylinders made of micro-perforated metal mesh, which allow easy replacement of the carbon.
Filter Features
Thanks to their modularity and compact design, pocket filters can be easily integrated into existing extraction systems . The large filtering surface allows capturing even the smallest particles present in dry fumes and industrial dust, while maintaining minimum pressure drops.
Key benefits include:
- Compact and modular filter unit , easily replaceable in the suction system.
- High filtering efficiency : retains large quantities of pollutants thanks to the large active surface.
- Recycling of collected oil , resulting in economic savings.
- Purified air reintroduced into the environment , improving the quality of the air in the workplace.
Pocket Filter Applications
Pocket filters are used in many industrial contexts due to their versatility and efficiency. They are particularly suitable for mechanical processes that use neat or emulsified oil, helping to purify the air from oil mists and fine particles. They are also widely used in CNC work centers , where they ensure a cleaner and safer environment for machinery and operators. Their effectiveness also extends to heat treatment and lubrication processes , where the presence of vapors and residues is significant. Other contexts include the automotive, aerospace and metallurgical sectors , where air quality is essential.
