The system consists of two main units: one or more activated carbon adsorption sections and a steam-generating post-combustion unit. The adsorbers are sized according to the flow rate to be treated and are equipped with their own fan and stack. The post-combustor, also complete with a dedicated fan and stack, operates at a reduced flow rate compared to the main flow, approximately 1/10 to 1/15 of the treated effluent.

The range includes the ADS-PCD 05, ADS-PCD 12, ADS-PCD 25, and ADS-PCD 50 models, with flow rates of 5,000, 12,000, 25,000, and 50,000 Nm³/h, respectively. The installed power ratings listed in the technical table are 11, 22, 37, and 70 kW, depending on the model.

From an engineering standpoint, the system includes:

• activated carbon adsorber with horizontal beds;
• shell-and-tube heat exchanger;
• direct afterburner;
• atmospheric-pressure superheated steam generator;
• reverse osmosis for the production of low-conductivity water;
• control panel with touchscreen and Industry 4.0 technology.

The recommended operating conditions for the adsorber include dust levels in the effluent below 5 mg/Nm³, a temperature not exceeding 35°C, relative humidity below 70% (to be evaluated in relation to temperature), and an inlet VOC concentration of approximately less than 0.5 g/Nm³. The afterburner is designed to use fuel gas, methane, or LPG at 75–80 mbar, and demineralized water for steam production.

The technical appendix also describes a pilot plant with an intake flow rate of 2,000 Nm³/h, complete with an activated carbon adsorber, an afterburner for the oxidation of desorbed VOCs, and a superheated steam generator. This plant allows for the verification of abatement parameters, the optimization of activated carbon efficiency, the testing of the regeneration cycle, and the evaluation of performance maintenance over time.
