Coral Suction And Filtration Plant Hydrophobic Dust Scaled33

Installation of a hydro-filter for the extraction of polluting industrial dusts

  • Plant type: Hydrophobic industrial dust extraction
  • Air flow rate: 6,000 cu m/h
  • Filter type: Water filter mod. Venturi
  • Fan: PRVM 630 - 18.5 kW

How the plant works

The industrial dust extraction system built by Coral for the client takes advantage of the unique hydrodynamic operation of wet filters.

Posterior to the area affected by the workings are located suction downflows of appropriate diameter equipped with a hose that allow the suction of industrial dust generated directly to their source of production. The suction downflows are connected to a main manifold, which conveys the pollutant to a Venturi wet filtration system that takes advantage of the filtering effectiveness of mixing air and water for its abatement.

Dusty air, sucked in by the fan, passes through the venturi orifice where it undergoes a considerable increase in velocity, while water recirculated by a pump is introduced at the throat. The rapid acceleration of the air produces the atomization of the water into millions of very fine droplets that, while maintaining a reduced velocity, come into contact with the dust particles entrained by the airflow and capture them. The mixture of dusty air and water tangentially enters the separator, in which spiral motions take place. Centrifugal forces push the water droplets against the wall surfaces, while the dusty air escapes upward. The water below the tower is kept in good condition by the purification system, while the polluted liquid is conveyed over the trough, which distributes it evenly over the part below.

Finally, a high-performance centrifugal electric extractor completes this industrial dust extraction system: the filtered aeriform is thus pushed to a special exhaust stack and fed back into the atmosphere.
