India's wood industry prepares for leapfrogging

The twelfth edition of Indiawood, Asia's most important trade fair related to the furniture and woodworking industry, took place June 2-6 in Bangalore, confirming its kermis of excellence thanks to a record number of visitors after a two-year forced stop.

Indiawood 2022 occupied 65,000 square meters of exhibition space, divided into five thematic pavilions, and showcased key technological innovations and new tools.

India's timber industry has been growing steadily for years and is now aiming to reach $27 billion by 2025, which would in fact take India to the status of a leading global player.

The future of woodworking in India

Coral attended the event with its own representative booth chaired by area manager Alberto Coral (pictured left) flanked by Sara Peinetti with the operations and sales team from the company's Indian office, whose offices are located in Bangalore.

With such potential for business growth, the needs of the Indian industry regarding air filtration from wood dust and wood chips have also increased in tandem, which led Coral to theopening since 2018 of Coral India, a sales, engineering and direct service office with attached spare parts warehouse (named Coind Anti-Pollution Systems Pvt. Ltd.),to spread the philosophy of worker protection and preservation of woodworking machines through proper cleaning of the air inside the production facilities, which, it should be remembered, also prevents fire hazards due to the high flammability of wood residues.

The interest generated by Coral among the audience of specialists and industry professionals visiting Indiawood 2022 went beyond all expectations: hundreds of inquiries and bids that will certainly result in plant designs that will help take the Indian wood industry to another level in terms of environmental sustainability and technological evolution.
