Their operation is based on the physical principle of dry filtration . Through the aspirator mounted on the roof of the cabin, a depression is created that generates the forced circulation of the air flow. The suction walls have the purpose of blocking all the substances deriving from the painting operations, limiting toxic emissions and the dispersion of pollutants in the environment. These systems can be equipped with extended walls and roof to better channel the pollutant to be filtered.

Filtration can be done in one or two stages , using high-efficiency paper and glass fiber filters. The air passes through these filters, located on the wall of the cabin: initially through the first stage, which captures the pigments with larger grain size, and then through the second glass fiber filtering stage, which retains the finest particles. Once purified, the air is expelled outside .

Their operation takes shape through the frontal suction of the air polluted by overspray and is realized with the expulsion of the polluting particles through the centrifugal fan . The pressurization area is directly connected to the painting booth and is accessible through doors and inspectable through portholes. The constituent elements of this type of booth are: one or more water curtain or dry painting booths, an eventual environment (created by assembling modular panels), an air replenishment filter roof, a pressurization group, an Air Treatment Unit or a hot air generator, a control panel, an activated carbon post-filtration system (if necessary) and an internal lighting system.

Water curtain paint booths

Water curtain booths use the ability of water to intercept and retain polluting pigments , with less need for maintenance and cleaning and absolute safety against possible fires.

Through the extractor mounted on the roof, a depression is created inside the cabin, which determines the formation of an air flow conveyed, from the extractor front, towards the expulsion chimney . During this journey, the air passes through the water veils of the cabin, where the solid pigments of the paint are broken down. Three washes in water and a further dry filtering allow the capture of the suspended pigments, which are deposited inside the collection tank.

At this point, the submersible pump in the system circulates the water in the tank, sending it back to the trays which, overflowing, generate the water veils. The first reduction of the pigments occurs on the front veil; subsequently, the residual part is forced to "wash" itself by passing through the internal veils , before being finally filtered through the dry filter.
