Four weeks of training for future engineering professionals

For Coral , 2022 opened under the sign of training: in collaboration with the San Benigno Vocational School and with the sponsorship of the Piedmont Region, the project Coral Academy kicked off.

The project, which has been in preparation since April 2021 and is now fully operational, aims to introduce young specialists in the metalworking industry to the profession through targeted and specific courses.

The courses, which will run throughout the year, have a duration of four weeks, the first of which is held at the institute to learn the basics of occupational safety, technical drawing analysis and other theoretical concepts for the profession, followed by an additional three weeks of full immersion in the production departments Coral in Volpiano.

Training on the job: the "cure" of Coral against the shortage of skilled personnel

The stated goal is not only to enable students to learn in the field in a company at the forefront of the air extraction and filtration industry, but also to unearth new talent to enter the profession.

As Engineer Alfredo Nicolazzo, head of the production plant Coral as well as coordinator of the Coral Academy project, points out, "The difficulty in finding suitable professionals in the industry is still evident, and the path of on-the-job training for young people could fill this gap."

Targeted training

The first course organized dealt with the specific job of sheet metal working and welding, which ended in January 2022 with the hiring of three very young participants, now in full-time employment at Coral. A few days ago the "second wave" began with some boys from the Vocational School working to learn onboard wiring and 3D drawing, again assisted by both the more experienced staff of Coral and supervisor Davide Pellizzari, who has repeatedly shown enthusiasm for the project.

Coral Academy: the meeting point between job supply and demand

Enthusiasm and eagerness definitely emerge in the words of Diego Bitetta, Pavlos Konstantis and Raul Marian, the three very young professionals "enlisted" through Coral Academy and operating for the past month in the Coral departments in Volpiano. Their training continues through a structured rotation of roles, according to the company's specific production needs, on a par with their senior colleagues. From precision laser cutting to welding to sheet metal bending, which the boys perform with the help of state-of-the-art tools provided by Coral.

In short, an ambitious and challenging project, but one that could prove to be a successful way of matching labor supply and demand. The company, meanwhile, is already working to spread and extend the initiative to other Group companies as well Coral.
